St. Peter's Village Tour

St Peter's Village Tour is a free, award-winning, guided walk around the village. Its season begins at the start of May and ends in mid-September. The tour starts from the beautiful parish church of St Peter-in-Thanet and continues for approximately 1 mile over flat ground. Groups stop periodically to be entertained and informed by historically-costumed characters. Allow 2½ hours for the tour. Morning and afternoon tours include a break for refreshment. During wet weather the tour takes place entirely within the church. Groups still meet the costumed characters, however there is no break for refreshment and the tour will take only 1½ hours. War Graves Tours (WW1 & 2) take place in the churchyard and groups are guided amongst the graves of those servicemen buried here. Photographs and news clippings are used to illustrate the lives of these men. Churchyard Tours guide visitors around the graves of famous and interesting individuals who are buried within the churchyard - again photographs and news clippings are used. These tours take around 1½ hours and there is no refreshment break. Dates and times of tours are available in the Village Tour leaflets distributed about the town and on the Village Tour's website. Booking is essential and can be done online or by ringing the appropriate telephone number. The tour is free but donations are what enable us to keep going so donations are invited for the tour.
