Easter Bunny at Balmoral Gardens with his Easter Eggs.
Inset: The Easter Bunny and Chamber Badger present eggs to the A & E staff at QEQM Hospital |
 |
Although the weather was more like Christmas than Easter, the Easter Egg Hunt went ahead on Good Friday and Easter Saturday in Balmoral Gardens, Broadstairs.
Easter chicks were hidden in the garden for competitors to find, for which they were rewarded with a super Easter Egg.
To add to the atmosphere, Dickensian characters and an Easter Bunny entertained the Easter Egg hunters. Also, making a rare appearance was the Chamber mascot, the Broadstairs Badger.
Because of the bad weather, we were left with some Easter eggs, so on Easter Sunday, the Badger and the Bunny visited A & E at QEQM hospital to present eggs to the staff. As can be seen from the photo, the Badger had a check up while he was there! |
The Dickens Spectacular Christmas weekend took place on 7th, 8th and 9th December. The event was launched on the afternoon of 7th December, with a Kmfm roadshow at Pierremont, hosted by Johnny Lewis. There was music from local band, Billy Wears Dresses, and Johnny kept the crowds entertained until the countdown to the switch-on of the lights on the christmas tree at 4.45 pm. As the tree was lit, there were several big bangs as rockets were launched into the night sky.
All the indoor events over the weekend were huge successes, and ticketed events were all sold out. Despite bad weather the majority of the outdoor events took place.
Kmfm’s Johnny Lewis also judged the annual Best Dressed Window competition over the weekend; the winner was Church Street Florists in St. Peter’s. Small World in York Street was runner up, with Sweet Yesterday’s in the High Street in third place. Ten Highly Commended certificates were also awarded.
